The Harriett Tubman Monument at 911 Craven Street was unveiled on June 1, 2024, after a funding campaign that began in 2017. It was sculpted by Ed Dwight. The 14-foot-tall sculpture of Tubman was placed on a bronze pedestal that features scenes of a member of the United States Colored Troops leading slaves into freedom. The monument sits next to the Tabernacle Baptist Church where Robert Smalls and his family are buried.
