Stop 1- Union Prison- 180 Broad Street. Five Union Generals were held at this house in order to try and prevent Union shelling of the lower peninsula.

Stop 2- Samuel Wragg Simons House- 164 Broad Street. Simons served as a Corporal in the Charleston Light Dragoons who protected the Charleston area railroads. The unit later became Company K in the 4th SC Cavalry. They were transferred to Virginia where they fought in the battles of the Wilderness, Spotsylvania Courthouse, Cold Harbor and the siege of Petersburg. In the spring of 1865 they were sent to North Carolina to fight Sherman’s forces.

Stop 3- Another George W. Cooper House- 13 Franklin Street. Cooper also owned the house at Stop 1.

Stop 4- Old Marine Hospital- 20 Franklin Street. Served as a Confederate hospital.


Stop 5- Union Prison- 1 Pitt Street. The home served as a Union prison.

Stop 6- Duncan N. Ingraham Home- 89 Beaufain Street. Ingraham served as a commodore in the Confederate Navy.
