The Visitor Center is located at 30 Ingalls Road in Hampton. The center has exhibits on: slavery; the plans for a memorial interpreting the first slave landing in the United States at Old Point Comfort; the first three slaves to escape from Confederate lines to freedom; and the contraband camps established at the fort. In order to enter the Casemate Museum inside the walls of the fort I first obtained a free timed entry ticket, which can only be picked up in person at the Visitor Center. They are issued every 15 minutes.
