Appomattox- The NPS Driving and Walking Trails Tour Series

The National Park Service has developed a driving tour called Beyond the Village for the Appomattox Court House National Historic Park, which consists of seven stops, shown below. The village itself is between stops #3 and #4. For the purposes of the series we’ll call it stop #3A. At appropriate points posts will be included about the battles.

They have also constructed an extensive trail system, shown below.

The Court House village, shown below, played a more important role in the surrender than the battle. It has a visitors center, gift shop and rest rooms. There are multiple original buildings here several with exhibits.

The tours series contains hundreds of pictures and is divided into multiple posts. At each of the driving tour stops it also combines the components of the numbered stops of nearby trails where possible.
